Our 55th Reunion will be the weekend of August 14-16, 2015 – the same weekend that the Sequoia Alumni Association will be holding its annual picnic on campus for graduates from all years. And we'll be joining them.

So we’ll be getting together with our own class and with some others, and maybe some faculty, that we also remember.

-----
It is likely that our reunion weekend will start, as it did for the 50th, with a cocktail hour informal get-together at Harry’s Hofbrau in Redwood City on Friday evening Aug 14th.

On Saturday the 15th we would attend the on-campus Sequoia Alumni Association barbeque, which is always a great success.

And on Saturday evening we would have our somewhat more formal dinner, probably at the Sequoia Yacht Club in Redwood City.

And the weekend would finish up with a picnic on Sunday August 16, most-likely at Flood Park in Menlo Park.

-----
It would be wonderful, with no promise and no obligation, if you would respond to this message and let the committee know if you are likely to attend the whole weekend, a selected event or two, or not at all.

August 14th - 16th 2015 --- The  55th Reunion of the Sequoia Class of 1960
                Are you likely to attend?

Friday informal evening at Harry’s Hofbrau – yes, no or maybe?
Saturday on-campus alumni picnic – yes no or maybe?
Saturday evening dinner at Sequoia Yacht Clklub – yes, no or maybe?
Sunday picnic at Flood Park – yes, no or maybe?

Again, any response will help the committee do the planning.  You are not committing yourself to attending or not.

-----
Also, do you have any suggestions regarding things might be included, or excluded, to make the weekend even more wonderful?

Halfway To Our Next Reunion

The new gym (2011)
The new gym (2011)
By March 2013, halfway between our 50th and 55th reunions, many of our classmates have had new adventures, have gained new grandchildren or great grandchildren or other family members (some have even married), have started new projects, moved to wonderful vacation/retirement locations, or learned new things.  Of course, at our age we probably have gone through illness - our own or that of a loved one - and lost family members or dear friends.  But we keep on going, because we are Sequoians.

Oh, how I hope I make it to 118 so I can attend our 100th reunion, even if it's in a wheelchair!

The weekend sped by, full of smiles and getting to know folks again, or for the first time.  From Harry's Hobrau Friday night to the very last moment at Flood Park on Sunday, we were busy.  We even ran into each other at the motel breakfast rooms (I knew I shoulda combed my hair and put on lipstick!)  See the comments (and add one yourself) at the page called "We had fun!"  And check out the photos in the latest photo album (and send your own to Leone for posting).  Email sequoia60list@aol.com

Three days after our graduation ceremony, Jan Marks married Gary Gord, and on June 20 of this year they celebrated their 50th anniversary!  Talk about a success story!  They have 2 kids, and a grandkid.  Jan was a bank teller before they retired to Penn Valley.

Where are we now?

Where are we now?

Of the 488 Classmates who have been found, it is not surprising that two-thirds (330) still live in California.

Of those in California, 69 are still in the Redwood City, Emerald Hills, San Carlos, Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, or Woodside area, and 261 more are living somewhere else in California.

Here is where those who have moved from California are located.

Craig Fraser, Linda McAbee, Dennis Querantes and Gary Trantow in June 1956- five months before Elvis Presley's movie "Love Me Tender" was released.
We were all listening to "Heartbreak Hotel" "Blue Suede Shoes,"and "Be Bop A Lula." These four Sequoians were "Standing on the Corner" - possibly "On the Street Where You live."  Truly, "Memories are Made of This." And remember these profound lyrics of 1956? "Tutti frutti, aw rutti.  Awop-bop-a-loo-mop-alop-bom-bom.

New class photos have been added to the photo album called "When We Were Young." If you view the album as a slide show, you'll need to use the funny little arrows at the bottom to be able to read the names of all of those in the picture.  If you view it as a page layout, you can read the names well, but the pictures are smaller.  Click on them and they get bigger. Go ahead -- look at them both ways.  And thank Alene Kremer and cathy Kalteren for their contributions to our collection on this s...

Girls Just Want to Have Fun - and do good things!

Image

The reunion is just around the corner, and we are getting quite nostalgic.
Alene Kremer sent us several class photos and this shot of  Girl Scoot Troop 213.  This was probably about 6th grade at Lincoln School.  But it might be 7th grade at McKinley, since it appears that some of the girls are wearing lipstick.  I recall heading off to Robinsons on Broadway to buy my first lipstick with Darla Risinger on the day we "graduated" from 6th grade! All the girls but Gloria were in our Class...

We now know where to send the check

Well, our plea for help let us find a few more lost classmates.  The name of his brother was all that was needed to find Bob Jones.

And now the full information, including where to send your check and how to also send a check for the Sequoia High School Alumni Association Picnic that same weekend, is posted under Details of Events.

So let's get those registrations in, send messages via the Classmates or Guest Book pages, and sign on the Who's Coming Page.

It will be here before you k...
